Cedarwood is one of the four essential oils found to regrow hair. Cedarwood essential oil used dates back to the 11th century. It is used in soaps, shampoos and as an insect repellent. Cedarwood is used in dandruff shampoos because of its ability to regulate sebum. In high concentrations, it can cause skin irritation.
